Study for "The Artist"

Every artist has a beginning. This drawing represents the start of that journey, when a child first gets the inspiration to show the world how he or she sees it. In this drawing of a drawing, we see into the world that was Cloar’s mind as a little boy creates a mural of a cowboy standoff. The scene recalls Cloar’s own obsession with cowboys as a child, and something he may have drawn at that age himself if he’d embraced his love of art sooner.
