Rachel Wilson grew up in a small town in Indiana. Her love of ancient history, art, and mythology led her to pursue a degree that would allow her to forever listen to stories. A first generation college student, she attended Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH, earning her BA in Classical Civilizations with a minor in Art History in 2014. With the goal to one day work in museums, she moved to Memphis, TN to pursue a Master’s degree at the University of Memphis. Her time at the University of Memphis gave her many opportunities to experience life in academia and museum work. Granted a Graduate Assistantship, she worked for two years as a Librarian for the Institute of Egyptian Art & Archaeology as well as a Docent for the Art Museum of the University of Memphis. During this time, she also worked as a Museum Attendant for the Waterfowling Heritage Center. In 2020, she held a Collections Internship at the West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center, working with the Hatchie River Collection. In 2021, she held a Curatorial Internship with the Waterfowling Heritage Center and worked as a graduate assistant for the Art Museum of the University of Memphis, helping to digitize their permanent collections. Her work with AMUM culminated in the curation of this exhibit. She graduated in the Spring of 2021 with an MA in Art History with a Concentration in Egyptian Art & Archaeology and the Museum Studies Certificate.
