Nostalgia

Certain images will always recall us to our childhood. Nostalgia is more than a feeling, it’s a sensory overload that wraps you in your memories and makes time disappear. Cloar embraced this feeling by joining his memories together like a collage in this lithograph: cowboys in a standoff on the projection screen, his love of fishing and baseball, and the paper dolls he would draw and cut out of newspapers and the sears catalogue to play with whenever his father wasn’t around. These paper dolls were Cloar’s first artistic creations. A lonely and sickly child, his dolls became a vehicle for secret adventures in the confines of his room.
