Sunday Group
Church Sundays call for wearing your Sunday finest and being on your best behavior. Drawn from a photograph, here we see the members of Cloar’s Sunday grouping, depicted with the exaggerated faces from his childhood memory. At the front of the group, six-year old Cloar stands with his family. Unlike in the photograph, the drawing shows Cloar already barefoot, giving the impression of a little boy ready to break away from his family and go off into his own world. His face is drawn and unhappy, hinting at the unrest Cloar often felt with his family as a boy.
