Vacant Monorail
One in a series of works which Lindsey “created as visual metaphors in response to the effects Covid had on everyday life,” this photograph shows the simplicity of public infrastructure in a time of non use. The interior of the monorail transforms into a plane of repetitive line and shape in the absence of passengers. This work shows the Mud Island Monorail, a formerly prominent Memphis tourist attraction. The impact the virus has had on tourism, hospitality, and the arts is still not fully known.
