A Matter of Perspective
This work is an homage to the beauty of Black women, celebrating with matter of factness, an understanding of differences anchored in similarities that connect us all to our humanity, and a desire to reaffirm our individual beauty. Sharon Norwood's work invites the viewer to consider our relationships to the real-world history of "otherness" by reframing familiar narratives and providing an alternate context for contemplation. We are different yet inexplicably connected in our intertwined histories. A Matter of Perspective seeks to interrogate those spaces that both fracture and unites our understanding of self and "otherness".
