Introduction

Essential Forces is an exhibition of Alison Weld’s abstract artworks that explores the importance and presence of the intrinsic forces that govern life. Through her work, Weld interprets the forces of nature as well as human forces, such as will, growth, and action. Each painting’s marks capture both memory and Weld’s consciousness in the moment of creation. Just as the four fundamental forces in physics govern how all objects interact, these works represent Weld’s connection to time, the world around her, and her experience as a female artist.
