Depression Spot

A young man lies alone in his bed, curled up and clutching the covers tightly. He appears simultaneously distraught and lost in distant thought. The title references the depression experienced by the painting’s subject and by so many before and after the pandemic. For those struggling with the mental illness before 2020, self-isolation only exacerbated the effects of depression. People who had never been depressed found themselves dealing with the mental ramifications of uncertain, high-stress times.
