Hot Sugar in the Afternoon
Dublin Core
Title
Hot Sugar in the Afternoon
Description
This work depicts a scene familiar to everyone who experienced isolation over the past year. A figure is shown reclining on a bed, scrolling through a cellphone. Commenting on identity, Mark Rawlinson examines the relationship between the sense of self we experience as individuals, the way others perceive us, and the personalities we express through social media. Rawlinson explains that, as an artist, he is concerned about the representation of marginalized peoples as well as persons with disabilities, and honoring the truth of those stories.
